The trench gun is complete with a "1918" dated russet leather, M1907 Sling.Įxcellent plus. The belt hanger has been removed from the scabbard. The bayonet scabbard has a green leather body with steel throat and tip. The left ricasso is marked "1917" over the encircled Remington logo and the opposite side is stamped "U.S" with three inspection marks. The M1917 Bayonet is a standard pattern with blued guard and ricasso, parkerized blade and walnut grips with two grasping grooves. All other barrel markings are covered by the handguard. The slide bar is marked: "TRADE REMINGTON MARK" in one line. "REMINGTON/UMC" is stamped in a circle on the receiver tang with "TRADEMARK" immediately below the circle.

The serial number: "U/164853" is located on the underside of the receiver ahead of the loading gate and on the right side of the barrel just in front of the receiver. An "Eagle-Head" Ordnance inspection mark is stamped on the front of the bayonet lug. The left front of the receiver has the Ordnance 'Shell & Flame' insignia hand-stamped above "US". The stock has a checkered, black, hard rubber buttplate with the Remington logo in a circle. The stock and forend are oil finished walnut. The barrel, receiver and bayonet lug have a commercial quality blue finish. The upper sling swivel is screwed to the underside of the magazine tube and the lower sling swivel is inset into the stock. The bayonet lug is separate from the handguard and is attached by three screws secured by transverse grooves on the underside of the barrel. The walnut handguard is secured to the barrel by a spring clip on the front of the guard and a clip on the top of the receiver attached by two screws. The Remington Model 10 Trench Gun features a distinctive wooden handguard that covers the upper surfaces of the barrel, separate bayonet lug and sling swivels on the butt and magazine tube.
